Fall brings changing schedules, shorter days, cooler weather, and more time spent indoors reading, studying, and using digital devices. It is also a good time for parents to check in on their child's vision, especially if they have noticed squinting, headaches, or difficulty seeing clearly.

A comprehensive eye exam at Hunter Family Vision in Leawood can help determine whether your child's vision has changed and whether an updated glasses prescription may be needed. Families can also save 50% on kids' frames, making fall a convenient time to refresh a child's eyewear.

Why Fall Is a Good Time for a Children's Eye Exam

Vision can change throughout childhood, sometimes without obvious symptoms. As school routines settle in and children spend more time reading, completing homework, and working on screens, previously unnoticed vision concerns may become easier to spot.

A comprehensive eye exam looks beyond basic visual acuity. Our eye doctors can evaluate eye health, focusing ability, eye teaming, and prescription needs to make sure your child's vision is supporting their daily activities.

Signs Your Child May Need an Eye Exam This Fall

Parents may begin noticing vision-related behaviors once children are several weeks into their school and activity schedules. Common signs can include:

Squinting when looking at distant objects
Sitting closer to televisions or screens
Complaining of headaches or tired eyes
Rubbing the eyes frequently
Losing their place while reading
Holding books or devices unusually close
Having difficulty seeing clearly during sports or outdoor activities

Even when children do not complain, routine eye exams can help identify prescription changes and other visual concerns.

Update Glasses for Fall Activities

Fall can mean a full schedule of school, sports, family outings, and extracurricular activities. Children's glasses should provide clear vision while also fitting comfortably enough for everyday wear.

If your child's prescription has changed or their current frames no longer fit properly, an eye exam can help determine the next step. Our optical team can also help families choose frames that suit a child's face, prescription, personal style, and active routine.

Save 50% on Kids' Frames

Replacing children's eyewear does not have to wait until glasses are damaged or completely outgrown. If your child needs a new prescription, better-fitting frames, or simply an updated pair, Hunter Family Vision offers 50% off kids' frames.

Pairing a comprehensive eye exam with new eyewear can help ensure your child receives glasses that match their current vision needs and feel comfortable throughout the day.

Make Children's Eye Care Part of Your Fall Routine

As families settle into fall routines, it is a useful time to pay attention to changes in how children see, read, use screens, and participate in activities. Addressing vision concerns early can help keep their eyesight clear and comfortable throughout the season.
